Expensive players and Worst performances
IPL is always known for changing the lives of players by providing them opportunities to showcase their talent and also making players millionaires. But several times players couldn't do justice to their price tag.
Here are some players who proved to be a costly affair for their teams
Glenn Maxwell
The Australian all-rounder was returning to the tournament after a year's gap. He was bought by Kings XI Punjab for a whopping sum of Rs 10.75 crores. And with this year IPL to be played in UAE, fans were expecting a recap of his 2014 season performance.
But the Aussie failed to deliver according to his reputation. In 10 matches played so far, he only managed to score 70 runs. He was also not able to hit a six in all his outings so far. His every run has cost around Rs.15,35,714 lakh for the Punjab franchise.
Sheldon Cottrel
The West Indies pacer was also bought by Punjab team for the amount of Rs.8.50 crore. Cottrel, who is famous for his salute celebration, wasn't able to show much of his salutes for his team.
The Jamaican only managed to grab six wickets in six innings in which four of them came in the first two matches. Also, he was smacked for five sixes in an over.
Pat Cummins
The Australian speedster who became the talk of the town after the last year's auction when he bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for a hefty amount of Rs.15.50 crore. He also became the most expensive overseas player.
But in ten matches, Cummins only managed to grab three wickets so far. His economy rate of 8.22 is also not much impressive. His every wicket has cost around Rs.5,16,66,666 crore for the Kolkata team.
Piyush Chawla
Piyush himself is an experienced player of IPL with more than 160 matches. The leggie was bought by Chennai Super Kings due to his vast exposure and to strengthen their bowling line-up.
And playing on slow pitches of UAE, a lot was expected from him but couldn't justify his price tag of Rs 6.75 crore. He only managed to get six wickets from seven innings in which he went for plenty.
Kedar Jhadav
With Suresh Raina Missing this years IPL, all the responsibilities of middle-order were on Kedar Jhadav. In the last two seasons, he didn't get many opportunities. But this year, was a chance for him to prove his mettle.
However, he wasn't able to capitalize on it. He was bought for the price of Rs 7.8 crores by CSK management. However, Jhadav only managed to score only 62 runs.
