A HISTORICAL CLEAN SWEEP BY BANGLA TIGERS

In Rawalpindi, history was created when Bangladesh handed the defeat to Pakistan in a second test match. After this Pakistan became the second country after Bangladesh, which lost to all the oldest eight full-time test-playing nations at home. It was the start of the Pakistan team's home season, and they were hosting their Asian neighbours Bangladesh for the two-test match series.

Many believed it would be a cakewalk for the Pakistan team and their hopes were high. They were looking for easy points to be in the race for the WTC final. But who would have thought that Shan Masood and his men would become a part of a historical defeat?

The series was full of twists and turns, both on and off the pitch. In the first game of the series after losing the toss the host nation was asked to bat first. And playing on a fresh wicket seemed a good toss to lose for the host as they put up a mammoth total of 448-6 and declared the innings.

With a total like that on board, Pakistan tried to put pressure on the visitors and tried to bundle them quickly. Instead, Shan Masood and Co. received a gigantic total of 565 in return and with a lead of 117 over them. Many still believe that it's nothing, and the host will put up a good target and they’ll win easily.

But in recent times Pakistan and disappointment go hand in hand. In their second innings, they were bowled out for a small total of 146, giving the host a mere target of 30 to chase. In the end, the tourists won the game by 10 wickets.

Several experts and Pakistan media criticised the PCB for the team's pathetic display of the game and for preparing such a flat pitch. Before the next game, there were several talks regarding the pitch and in reply, PCB prepared a green track to test the visitors.

In the second test, after losing the toss again the hosts were asked to bat first and scored a formidable total of 274 against the disciplined bowling attack of Bangladesh. In the second innings when Bangladesh came out to bat, the Pakistan team showed a world-class display of pace bowling by limiting the Bangladesh side to a score of 26/6.

It seemed like this test was in full control of the host nation but who knew that fate had some other plans for them. After this, a record-shattering partnership was created by Mehidy Hasan and Litton Das to drive their team out of this misery. The former scored 78 and the latter 138, which helped their side register a total of  262.

In their second innings, Pakistan had a chance to put up a challenging total but they could only manage to put up a score of 172 and gave their opponent the target of just 185 runs to chase. This total didn’t seem very difficult for the Bangladesh side, as they won the game by 6 wickets and wrote history by winning their first series against a giant on foreign soil.

This loss also meant that Pakistan's chances of reaching the WTC final were also gone and they are currently standing at the bottom half of the table. With this kind of loss and several raising issues inside the PCB, it's an alarming situation for them as several big events coming in future especially the ICC Champions Trophy just 6 months away.
