IPL- Royal Challengers Bangalore SWOT Analysis

In the series of SWOT analysis, the third team is Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB a team which has always been a crowd puller. The men in red & black managed to reach finals thrice in the previous seasons but weren’t able to cross the finishing line.

STRENGTHS

The RCB team is always known for their explosive batting performances. This year also the team has bought more firepower to their batting line-up by adding Australian skipper Aaron Finch who could play the same role as Chris Gayle and provide the team with an explosive start with Virat Kohli.

This line-up is followed by Mr.360 AB de Villers, English all-rounder Moeen Ali and the new batting sensation of BBL Josh Phillipe which makes this batting department very strong.

On the turning Tracks of UAE, the team has also got a variety of spinning options such as Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Pawan Negi, and also the new domestic find Shahbaz Ahmed. Adam Zampa who has been added to this squad last minute gives them more option.

WEAKNESS

The RCB department has always struggled for the same reason every season which is lack of death bowlers. This sole reason has cost them numerous matches. Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj has always been expensive at the death.

The team has added South African pacers Dale Steyn and Chris Morris to their bowling attack but they both haven’t had a good outing in both International and IPL cricket in last two years. Both have been suffering from Injuries in the past.

OPPORTUNITY

This season can be a great opportunity for the Devdutt Padikkal who has been the leading run-scorer in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Trophy to show what he is capable of.

It’s also a great chance for Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Shivam Dube, Pawan Negi to prove that they are capable of returning to the white ball format for the Indian Team.

THREAT

The problem will be going to be the Indian middle-order for the RCB. As their top order is very well established but their middle order is not looking very promising. Gurkeerat Singh, Shivam Dube, Pavan Deshpande are names who haven’t proved themselves yet at this level.

Also, the consistent chopping and changing in their XI is not very confidence-boosting for the players because they don’t get a proper chance to perform.

BEST XI

Virat Kohli (captain), Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal, AB de Villers (WK), Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini, Dale Steyn, Umesh Yadav

Comment if you think any changes can be done to this XI
