IPL- Kolkata Knight Riders SWOT Analysis
In the series of SWOT analysis, the seventh team is Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR the two times champion haven’t done any wonders in the previous two seasons. They need to come out strong if, they want to change things this season.
STRENGTHS
The men in purple have got
the best players in the T-20 business. With Sunil Narine, Andre Russel, Eoin
Morgan, Tom Banton the team has enough firepower to overpower any opponent.
Also, the team has good options in their spin attack with likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Sunil Narine, and the new mystery spinner Varun Chakravarty who will be going to play a vital role on the rank turners of UAE.
WEAKNESS
KKR has pace bowling department doesn’t look very promising. They’ve got Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Prasidh Krishna, Lockie Ferguson and the new millionaire of IPL Pat Cummins.
But with Mavi and Kamlesh both are returning from injuries and haven’t
played a lot of cricket. Also, Pat Cummins stats don’t do justice with his
talent.
The Indian batting department
is also inexperienced. Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill are the only experience
holders with seasons of experience under their belt. Apart from the rest are
pretty much new to this level.
OPPORTUNITY
This season is full of opportunities for youngsters to prove their mettle. For Shubhman Gill it’s an opportunity to score heavily and grab the attention of selectors for the upcoming T-20 world cup.
Also, for the other players like Rinku Singh, Siddhesh
Lad to get some games under their belt.
It’s a chance for Dinesh
Karthik to put on some excellent performance and grab that wicketkeeper slot
which is now a game of musical chairs in the Indian line-up.
THREAT
The overdependence on their
foreign players. Kolkata management has spent millions to buy the services of
Pat Cummins to strengthen their bowling but will he be able to manage the
workload of all 14 games without getting injured.
BEST XI
Shubhman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik (C, WK), Andre Russel, Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav, Pat Cummins, Prasidh Krishna, Varun Chakravaty.
Comment if you think any changes can be done to this XI.
