IPL- Chennai Super Kings SWOT Analysis

In the series of SWOT analysis, the fifth team is Chennai Super Kings. A single line is enough to justify the glory of this team. In IPL seven teams compete with each other to play finals against CSK.

STRENGTHS 

 

The presence of captain cool is enough to justify the strength of this team. MS Dhoni’s presence is more than enough for any team.

Also, the team has got the best spin attack for the pitches of UAE. They got spinners who have years of experience at the International cricket such as Imran Tahir, Ravinder Jadeja, Karn Sharma, Mitchell Santner, Piyush Chawla.

WEAKNESS

This year their batting line-up is a point of worry for them. With Suresh Raina skipping this year’s IPL, the CSK management does not how to fill up that slot. Raina is the best batsman for the CSK since the start of the IPL.

 

Also, the pace department is not looking very promising either. With Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, and Lungi Ngidi are the only frontline options. This year team has also bought Aussie speedster Josh Hazelwood but for him getting a place in the XI will going to be very difficult.

OPPORTUNITIES

 

This year can be a blessing in disguise for the young players of the CSK camp to prove themselves because of the unavailability of Suresh Raina, other young batsmen can fill up his shoes such as Ruturaj Gaekwad.

It's also a chance for Murli Vijay to get his place back in the team after so much time.CSK has also bought English all-rounder Sam Curran could also utilise this chance and can open the innings with Shane Watson.

THREAT

 

With most of the players in the CSK camp are retired or currently not playing any kind of cricket. Many of them lack match practice. The other issue is that many players are returning from injuries which can be a point of worry.

Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni ( Captain, WK), Ravinder Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Imran Tahir, Piyush Chawla, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur.
