IPL: The Rise of New Stars

Indian Premier League has finally come back home after the last season in UAE. This season is very much different from its previous versions. This time there are no home games for any team. Due to the pandemic, it has been decided that six venues will host all the games and no team will play at their home ground. This decision was taken to maintain the bio-bubble and other guidelines.

 

Many things have changed in IPL over the period but one thing that is constant from

the inaugural season is providing opportunities to the new talent. The motto of the IPL is

Yatra Pratibha Avsara Prapnotihi means "Where talent meets opportunity". And It’s only been a week since the start of this season and we have already witnessed some magnificent performances from the youngsters.

 

 

Harshal Patel

In all the previous seasons, no bowler had managed to get a five-wicket haul against Mumbai Indians. But in this season opener game. Harshal managed to achieve this feat.

Among those five wickets, he got three in the last over of the innings. This great effort helped RCB to register a victory over the defending champions.

 

Avesh Khan

The young pacer was part of the IPL set up for some time but never had the proper opportunity to showcase his skills. Playing for Delhi, Avesh managed to get crucial wickets of Faf du Plessis and MS Dhoni for score nought and helped his side to restrict CSK to an average total on the high scoring pitch and win the game easily

Deepak Hooda

A young lad from Baroda was a part couple of IPL franchises but never had a chance to show much of his skill sets.

In the match against Rajasthan, Hooda was promoted up the order and he proved this decision right by scoring 64 of just 28 deliveries including six mammoth hits over the rope. His quickfire innings helped the Punjab side to register 2 points.

 

Chetan Sakariya

The 23-year-old from Saurashtra faced a time when he had no proper shoes for training. 

In his first match against Punjab, Sakariya impressed everyone with his swing bowling and the ability to handle pressure situations by bowling at the death overs in a high scoring match. Sakariya finished with figures of 3-31 in his 4 overs when every other bowler was going over 10 in an over.

 

Arshdeep Singh

The left-arm pacer from Punjab, showed glimpses of his talent last season.

 

But in the first match of this season in a high scoring match against Rajasthan, Arshdeep was given the responsibility to defend mere 13 runs in the last over against a batsman who has just completed a century and smashed every other bowler for boundaries. Arshdeep didn’t fail to impress and managed to defend the total and made his side victorious by four runs.

 

Rahul Chahar

The young leg-spinner from Rajasthan proved his talent once again and showed the world why he is the next big thing in the spin department for the national side.

In a low total match against KKR, Rahul picked four wickets at a crucial point when the opposition was easily sailing towards victory. With the help of his four-wicket haul, the Mumbai side managed to win the game by 10 runs.

 

Shahbaz Ahmed

A young left-arm spinner from the Bengal, who is just playing the fourth match of his IPL career bowled a match-turning spell for his side.

In another low scoring game when the Hyderabad side was easily cruising towards the victory, Shahbaz came and bowled a spell that changed the fate of the game. In two overs he gave only 7 runs and picked up three wickets. Due to which RCB managed to win the game by six runs.

 

Shahrukh Khan

A hard hitter of the ball from Tamil Nadu showed a great display of temperament and skill. In a match against CSK when his side Punjab were reduced to 19-4. 

He came to bat at number 6 and scored a steady 47 of 36 balls and helped his side to reach the 100-run mark and saved his side from the embarrassment.
