First International series post lock down
After the period of lockdown, team India played its first International series. The 3 ODI match series against Australia was the first part of the long tour down under. For this series, men in blue wore retro-styled jersey inspired from 1992 WorldCup.
This series was a great opportunity for some players to seal their spots in the team. The two things were clearly visible throughout this three-match series one was Australian team domination and other was Indian team struggle.
In the first two matches, batting first Aussies scored more than 370 runs, on both occasions. Indian team bowling struggled against the likes of Steve Smith, Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell.
This trio kept on destroying the Indian bowling line-up from the beginning of the innings to the death overs. Especially, Steve Smith who scored hundreds of just 60 deliveries in both the matches.
In the batting department, Kohli & company couldn't do much. Most of them struggled against the short balls. Except for Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli no other batsmen was able to score runs and at the end, they lost both the matches by more than 50 runs.
In the third match of series, the Indian team decided to bat first but couldn't do anything new and again they were reduced to 152-5.
Then came Hardik Pandya who played this series as a specialist batsman and Ravindra Jadeja and they formed an unbeaten 150 run partnership for the sixth wicket and helped their side cross 300 run mark. In reply Australian only managed to score 289 and the Indian team won the last match by 13 runs.
In the whole series, the fielding from the men in blue was very sloppy. They dropped a lot of catches and gave away runs at ease. Also, the bowlers struggled to get wickets at regular intervals. After losing the ODI series 2-1, now India will face Australia for the three-match T20 series starting from 4 December.
