IPL 2020 - Flop XI of the season

IPL 2020 has reached its final stages of the competition. The 46 days long tournament of league matches between eight teams is finally over. Now it is left to two games before we get our champion for this season. During the league phase, there were several terrific performances by players, but also many players couldn't perform well according to their names in world cricket. 

The Flop XI of the tournament

Aaron Finch

The Australian captain, who is known for his T-20 skills across the globe couldn't do much for his new team. He was bought for the price of Rs. 4.40 crores by the RCB. In 11 matches he only managed to score 236 runs with only one half-century to his name.

In the majority of games, he was getting out in the first six overs. In the end, he was eventually replaced by his fellow countrymen Joshua Phillipe in the later stage of the tournament.

Prithvi Shaw

The young-opener wasn't able to live up to the expectations. Shaw was not able to repeat his last year's performance. In 13 innings he only managed to score 228 runs with two fifties to his name. Most of the time, he was seen struggling to score runs, especially against left-arm pacers.

Glenn Maxwell

The Australian all-rounder who is known for his big hits wasn't able to clear the rope throughout the season. He managed to score only 108 runs from 13 games he played. Even after a series of failures, he was given an extended run by the management, but he wasn't able to capitalise it and finally resulted in his exclusion from the team.

Rishabh Pant

The left-hander had a terrible season. In 12 matches he only managed to score 285 runs with his high score of 38. Pant, who is more or less is a permanent member of the Indian Team, couldn't live up to the expectations. Also, his strike-rate dropped from 162 to 108 this season.

Kedar Jhadav

Once considered as one of the pillars of Indian and CSK batting department, Jhadav failed horribly to live up to his name. In 8 matches he only managed to score 68 runs. 

MS Dhoni (WK)

It was the first time since Dhoni returned to competitive cricket since last year's semi-final against New Zealand in 2019 Worldcup. The lack of match practice was visible.

He struggled a lot against spin, especially against the likes of Rahul Chahar and Varun Chakravarthy. In 14 matches he scored merely 200 runs with a single fifty to his name.

Riyan Parag

In the last season, Parag performed well in the limited opportunities he got for Rajasthan Royals. But this time he couldn't repeat his last year heroics. He failed terribly and both with bat and ball. In 12 matches he was only able to score 86 runs, and with the ball, he went wicketless.

Andre Russell

The Dre-Russ who has changed the face of the games with his hard-hitting was not able to do the same this time. In 10 matches he only scored 117 runs and also, his bowling was very average he picked up six wickets. He also struggled with fitness and injuries for the most time of the season.

Navdeep Saini 

After making his debut for the men in blue last year, expectations were very high from the Delhi based speedster. He became the Kohli's, go-to man when the wicket is needed. 

But Saini couldn't perform well as he was injured in the latter stage of the tournament. He only managed to grab six wickets from 12 games.

Ankit Rajpoot

He struggled throughout the season with the ball. In six matches he only managed to pick two wickets with the economy rate of more than 10. He went for plenty while bowling at the death. Especially in a game against Mumbai the RR pacer conceding 60 runs in his four overs.

Pat Cummins

The most expensive overseas player of the IPL failed to justify his price value. In 14 games he only managed to pick seven wickets. In which four of them came in a single match against RR. 

For most of the tournament, he went wicketless. His economy rate was also on the higher side.
