IPL- Delhi Capitals SWOT Analysis

In the series of SWOT analysis, the second team is Delhi Capitals. DC performed well by finishing third in last year’s IPL. This year Delhi has made several changes to their team and tried to form a group of experienced and young players.

STRENGTHS

Delhi has a strong Indian batting line-up with the mixture of some well-established foreign players. Their side looks well balanced with the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant.

The team has also bought Shimron Hetmyer, the explosive batsmen from Caribbean who is an excellent form in recently concluded CPL. The team has also bought Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey and Ajinkya Rahane which makes their batting department very strong and deep.

Delhi team also have good quality spinners such as Ravi Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Sandeep Lamichanne who will play a vital role on the slow pitches of UAE.

WEAKNESS

Lack of all-rounders, it's one of the areas where Delhi will be facing problems because they don’t have any player with a proven track record. Only Axar Patel is the one amongst their team which could help them and fill that slot.

The team also lacks in pace department with only Kagiso Rabada and Ishant Sharma are the two big names in their side but they don’t have many options to fall back on.
Mohit Sharma the recruit is only the experienced campaigner apart from him all the other fast bowlers don’t have much of an experience.

OPPORTUNITY

It is a great chance for Rishabh Pant to perform and get back his place in the Indian line-up where he competing for his position with new gloves man KL Rahul.

It is also a great opportunity for the Delhi team to win their maiden IPL title and write history with such a good squad.

THREATS

Having a fully packed powerful batting line-up it becomes very difficult for the DC management to use or justify the presence of Ajinkya Rahane.
The player like him is best suitable for the top order but with the likes of Shaw, Dhawan, Iyer, Pant and Hetmyer it becomes really difficult to fit him.

Also, to set up a perfect XI for the management would little hard as in because they have to think about how they will play their four overseas players.

BEST XI

Prithvi Shaw/ Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Amit Mishra, Ravi Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, Keemo Paul
