CRICKET: A game equal to religion

 

 

Cricket which is merely just a sport for the world, at the same time it is a religion for the people of India. A country of billions in which every individual is connected to this sport in some manner or the other. 

 

Starting from the days of childhood no matter you are of which caste or religion, rich or poor, a girl or boy everyone must have swung that bat once to hit a six or bowled his/her special delivery to get a wicket. In India cricket is an important part of any individual’s life. 

 

Parents still, force children to either be a doctor or an engineer but cricket is now a third option added to that list. Every parent wants his/her child to play cricket for the nation. This is because maybe the father couldn’t fulfil his dreams to be one or because of the flashing camera lights, money, fame or anything.

 

The love of the people for the game is not hidden from anyone. When India started its journey on the road of glory after winning their first world cup in 1983 in England. A date was registered in the Indian calendar forever.

 

 There were celebrations all around people bursting crackers, distributing sweets, sending gifts to the players in whatever manner they are capable of cash or kind.

 

The craze for the game can be easily seen when it's India vs Pakistan. It is no less than a war on the border. Every fan whether in the stadium or at home is supporting, praying for the victory of their nation. People for once can leave a serious matter like an election to watch their favourite player.

 

Every religion has god whom people worship. Same applies for this game also. The name of that god is Sachin Tendulkar. An average looking human being in a crowd but a god in the field. These simple statements easily justify his value for his fans

 

“Nothing bad can happen to us if we’re on a plane in India with Sachin Tendulkar on it.”

These lines are enough to prove his worth and love of people for him. People having bad mood because India lost the game yesterday. Crowd going crazy on roads because India lifted the world cup. People of India worships this game every time. 

It doesn’t matter whether its day or night, winter or summer, or they even they don’t have proper equipment’s to play the game. If they don’t have a ball, they will make their ball by paper or them don’t have a bat, not issue cardboard will do the work and the wickets were never a problem because they will get anything to stand in place of it.

If you go on searching for something very common in the house of people in India, you will find two things very common, one is a small temple of God and a cricket bat in the corner of a room.
